Frequently Asked Questions

All of our recreational dance classes at LINX last 55 minutes. Team and company classes are 55 minutes long, except for ballet and modern which are 1.5 hours.

Typically, we start with a warm-up that lasts about 15 minutes. In a ballet class, dancers typically begin in a circle and work on floor stretches to start. In jazz and other classes, we typically warm up in the center of the room with floor stretches, standing stretches, isolations, standing technique, etc. We then work on across the floor technique and continue onto centerwork and from-the-corner technqiue. This includes kicks, turns, leaps, etc.

In some classes, we end with a combination where the teacher will teach a choreographed phrase to the dancers and they can perform in groups.

LINX has a 5:1 ratio at all times. Each dance class has a specialized dance teacher, and depending upon class size, can have a TAP.
Competitive dance classes require more time commitment from dancers and families. They are expected to attend class several times a week and participate in at least 3 mandatory competitions throughout the year.
Classes are month by month, but we do highly encourage remaining in the same class after January. At this point, our instructors begin to choreograph recital routines and base their routines off of the dancers in class at the time. We also encourage dancers to be committed to attending class each week starting in January.
Hip Hop and Jazz is an even combination of learning both jazz and hip hop techniques, in one class. It explores more of the classic jazz technique, paired with some hip hop. The recital will either be a mix of both styles or one specific style. Hip Hop class does not include jazz. It features new combinations each week to incorporate different styles and work on choreography retention.
Our tumbling classes are a perfect choice for dancers that are interested in learning acrobatic skills! It is a performance based class that will participate in the recital. Tumblers will work on balance and strength, flexibility through the practice of proper stretching techniques, agility, motor coordination and body awareness. They will learn different gymnastic and dance elements suited to the skill level of the dancer.
LINX Dance Department requires our competitive dancers to attend three mandatory competitions throughout the year. There are also other optional competitions that our dancers can take part in if participating in a solo, duo, trio or small group.
Our competitive dancers are required to take core classes with their team/company. Electives may have team/company members in it but are not exclusive to team/company members only. Core classes are invite only - electives are not by invitation.
Our recreational dancers are only required to take one dance class, however we typically see that dancers are interested in taking at least two classes throughout the year!
Our instructors will assess the level of the dancer throughout the year, and will express any concerns that they may have to their director. The director will find an appropriate level for the dancer and will contact home if necessary.

Our recreational regular price is $139/per class. However, we have a discount system! Please visit our pricing page for more information. http://www.linxdance.com/Recreational/Pricing

Our competitive prices are based upon team/company level and the number of hours of classes each dancer is in per week. Please visit our pricing page for a list! https://www.linxdance.com/Competitive/Pricing
